Hands-on Sweepstakes Casino review

Chumba Review 2026
“A simple, well-known sweeps site with a 1x playthrough, gift cards open to every player and an unusually good $10 first purchase. Worth knowing: cash redemptions start at 100 Sweeps Coins, and prize play runs in the browser rather than the apps.”

Chumba Casino Overview
Chumba Casino is one of the best-known names in US sweepstakes gaming: a browser-based site with about 200 games, many of them in-house exclusives, plus jackpot slots, bingo rooms and a live social casino. The default playthrough is 1x, gift-card prizes are open to every player, and a one-time $10 first purchase is the best-value package on the site. It suits casual players who want a cheap way in and live in one of the 34 eligible states or DC. The True Value section below shows how the free coins and the $10 offer compare.
It runs on two coins:
- Gold Coins are for fun play only. They have no monetary value and can never be redeemed for prizes.
- Sweeps Coins are the sweepstakes coin. Sweeps Coins won through play can be redeemed for prizes at $1 each, as cash or as gift cards.
You can't buy Sweeps Coins, and you never have to buy anything to play with them. Free Sweeps Coins come from the sign-up offer, the daily bonus, online entry requests and promotions. Buying Gold Coins is optional, and several packages come with free Sweeps Coins attached.
The operator is VGW: VGW Games Limited runs the sweepstakes and VGW Malta Limited owns and operates the site, both registered in Malta. The Sweeps Rules are a separate document, now on version 26.1, dated 16 September 2026. Part 4 covers the operator and its regulatory history.

Chumba Casino Player Reviews & Reputation
Chumba Casino holds a 3.9 TrustScore on Trustpilot from about 10,900 reviews. Most are five-star, close to a quarter are one-star, and the recent reviews are about the sweepstakes site itself.
Chumba Casino Welcome Package, Free Coins & Promotions
The welcome offer comes in two parts: a free sign-up grant and a one-time $10 first purchase. The first purchase is where most of the value sits.
Free signup offer
Every new player gets 2,000,000 Gold Coins + 2 Sweeps Coins free once registration is complete. There's no code to enter and no purchase needed.
- The coins arrive automatically once you've confirmed your email address and entered the code sent to your phone.
- No claim deadline is stated.
- You don't need to verify your ID to receive them, only to redeem a prize later.
The Gold Coins are entertainment only. The 2 Sweeps Coins are the part with prize value, and they carry the 1x playthrough covered under Important T&C.
First-purchase offer
New players can buy 10,000,000 Gold Coins + 30 free Sweeps Coins for $10, once. The offer runs in a banner across the site, and there's no code.
- It's a one-time offer for new players. No end date is published.
- The 30 Sweeps Coins have the same 1x playthrough as other Sweeps Coins. Chumba doesn't publish separate terms for this offer.
- Sales tax may be added at checkout depending on where you live, so the total can come to more than $10.
For comparison, the regular $10 package is 2,500,000 Gold Coins with no Sweeps Coins, and the regular packages that do include Sweeps Coins give roughly one per dollar. The $10 offer is the best-value package on the site by a wide margin.
Daily rewards and other free-entry routes
- Daily bonus: the rules say Chumba may give eligible players free Sweeps Coins once a day, at its election, and they don't set an amount. It commonly runs as a seven-day login streak that builds from about 0.25 to 3 Sweeps Coins, but it isn't guaranteed: Chumba has said it's trialling changes, and some accounts get fewer Sweeps Coins or none.
- Chumba Wild Chests: a separate daily streak, with chests at days 7, 14, 21 and 28 holding a random mix of Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins. Miss a day and the streak restarts from Day 1. Chests are rolling out gradually, and some are invite-only.
- Online Entry Request: the free entry route, worth 5 Sweeps Coins per valid request. You need a verified account. You fill in a short form, reveal a unique phrase, write it by hand in black or blue pen on a blank 4 x 6 card or white paper, and upload a photo of it. A selfie check may be added. There's no postal option, no daily limit or processing time is published, and Chumba judges legibility at its sole discretion.
- Social challenges: contests on Facebook every Tuesday and Thursday, each paying 40 Sweeps Coins to 150 winners, plus monthly and celebration contests.
Loyalty and ongoing promotions
There's no public VIP or loyalty programme and no referral scheme. Account executives may contact active players, but Chumba says there's no set formula for who gets one. Ongoing promotions include:
- Quests: daily and weekly missions with varying rewards
- Daily Jackpots: separate Gold Coin and Sweeps Coin pools that must drop every day
- Bingo: a monthly pool of 125 billion Gold Coins and 2.5 million Sweeps Coins across the bingo rooms
- Emailed purchase offers, which vary from player to player
Challenge and jackpot prizes go to a limited number of winners, so treat them as a bonus rather than a regular source of coins.
We work out what a typical player actually ends up with from this exact offer, after the price. Gold Coins count as $0. See methodology →
True Value
The free sign-up offer is worth about $1.25 on average. You need 100 Sweeps Coins to redeem for cash, and about 1 in 95 players who play it with small spins on a typical slot get there.
Add the one-time $10 first purchase and the combined offer is worth about $12.88 on average, after the $10. The minimum is still 100 Sweeps Coins, and about 1 in 5 players who play it with small spins on a typical slot get there.
- The free offer is a taster: the 2 Sweeps Coins on their own rarely reach the cash minimum, and the $10 purchase is what brings it within reach.
- Every input comes from the Sweeps Rules: 1x playthrough, $1 per Sweeps Coin and the 100-coin cash minimum. The lower gift-card minimum in the help centre isn't used, because the rules set 100 for every prize.
- Before the minimum comes into it, the combined offer is worth about $20.72 after the $10.
- The 12,000,000 Gold Coins count as $0. They're for fun play and can't be redeemed.
Coin amounts aren't cash, and nothing here is a guaranteed result. Sales tax, the daily bonus, chests, entry requests and promotions sit outside this number.
Important T&C
The conditions worth knowing, and how to handle them:
- 1x playthrough, with the right to raise it reserved. Every Sweeps Coin you receive, free or bundled with a purchase, has to be played once before winnings from it can be redeemed. The rules also let Chumba require up to 20x "in its sole discretion". The True Value figures above assume 1x.
- Any Sweeps Coin game counts. There's no weighting table and no list of excluded games.
- Plan on 100 for gift cards too. The help centre says gift cards start at 10 Sweeps Coins. The Sweeps Rules say every prize redemption needs at least 100. The rules are the governing document, so plan on 100.
- No fees today, but the right is reserved. The help centre says Chumba doesn't charge redemption fees. The T&Cs reserve the right to charge them. Bank and currency-conversion fees are yours.
- One redemption request every 24 hours, and only one pending gift-card request at a time.
- Prize caps. In Florida, a prize from a single spin or play is capped at $5,000, and anything larger is reduced. Chumba can also limit redemptions to $10,000 a day, or another amount it considers necessary, and pay prizes over $10,000 in instalments.
- Cash goes back the way you paid. Card and online-banking buyers are paid to a bank account, and Skrill buyers to Skrill. To switch, you have to buy with the new method first. Gift cards are open to everyone.
- Log in at least every 60 days. Sweeps Coins lapse 60 days after your last login, and an account with no login for 12 months can be closed.
- Redeem before an account is closed. Unredeemed Sweeps Coins are forfeited whether you close the account or Chumba does, and the rules give you no rights to them.
- Redeem before a self-exclusion. While self-excluded you can't redeem, although requests already pending go through.
- Free-coin conditions. Entry requests need a verified account and a handwritten card. The daily Sweeps Coins are at Chumba's election, and chest streaks reset if you miss a day.
- Rules can change. Chumba can change win rates, odds and the Sweeps Coin amounts it gives out at any time.
- Disputes go to arbitration. The T&Cs use binding individual arbitration and a class-action waiver. You can opt out by emailing arbitrationoptout@chumbacasino.com within 30 days of opening your account.
Chumba Casino Registration & Verification
Signing up takes a few minutes: a short form, a confirmation link sent to your email and a text-message code sent to your phone. You need a valid North American mobile number, and VoIP numbers aren't accepted. The welcome coins land once both checks are done.
You must be 21 or older, or the age of majority in your state if that's higher. Chumba raised its minimum from 18 in February 2025. Sweeps Coin play is open in 34 states plus DC and excluded in 16 states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Washington and West Virginia.
- In six of them (Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, Montana, Nevada and Washington) you can't play at all, even with Gold Coins. Gold Coin purchases made from those states are voided and refunded minus an admin fee of up to 10%.
- In the other ten, Gold Coin play and purchases are still allowed.
- Oklahoma is eligible today, but a state ban on dual-currency sweepstakes takes effect on 1 November 2026.
US territories and everywhere outside the US are excluded too. The state block on this page shows each state's status, the sweepstakes law position and both age rules.
When Chumba checks your ID
You don't need ID to sign up or play. You do need it before any redemption, so it's worth doing early to keep your first request from waiting. Verification covers:
- a photo ID (a driver's licence is recommended; a passport or ID card also works) and a selfie, checked through Jumio
- proof of address dated within the last six months
- your bank account, linked through Yodlee or confirmed with a bank statement
- a fresh phone check on your first redemption
Chumba says verification usually takes 24 to 48 hours. It can stretch to several days if your documents need a closer look.
Extra checks, including source of funds or wealth, apply once your redemptions pass $2,000 in total or in a single request, and Chumba can ask for them at any time. Requested documents are due within 30 days, or the account can be closed or restricted.
Account rules to know
- Payment methods must be in your name. A name mismatch gets the account suspended.
- No VPNs. Using one breaches the terms and can get the account closed.
- Taxes on prizes are your responsibility. Chumba doesn't issue tax forms, only a statement of your redemptions and activity.
Chumba Casino Purchases & Prize Redemptions
Buying Gold Coin packages
Gold Coins are bought from the coin store in the lobby: pick a package, choose a payment method and confirm. The coins usually land straight away.
The help centre lists these regular packages and notes that offers may vary per player:
| Price | Gold Coins | Free Sweeps Coins |
|---|---|---|
| $1 | 200,000 | None |
| $5 | 1,000,000 | 5.05 |
| $10 | 2,500,000 | None |
| $50 | 15,000,000 | 51.50 |
| $100 | 35,000,000 | 104 |
| $300 | 120,000,000 | 315 |
- Fees: Chumba doesn't charge a purchase fee. Sales tax may apply depending on where you live, and it doesn't count toward your purchase limits.
- Refunds: Gold Coin purchases can't be refunded.
- Limits: you can set your own purchase limit over 1, 7 or 30 days.
The Welcome Package section above covers the $10 first-purchase offer.
How prize redemption works
Only Sweeps Coins won through play can be redeemed. Your balance becomes redeemable when:
- your account is verified;
- the Sweeps Coins you played have met the 1x playthrough; and
- you hold at least the minimum for your route.
Each Sweeps Coin is worth $1. A request stays pending until verification is complete.
Chumba Casino payment methods
| Method | Purchase | Redemption | Conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) | Yes | No | Cash prizes go to your bank account |
| Apple Pay | Yes | No | Must be in your name |
| Chumba Prepaid Mastercard | Yes | No | No prepaid-card prizes |
| Online banking (Trustly) | Yes | No | Cash prizes go to your bank account |
| Skrill | Existing Skrill users only | Yes | Redeem to Skrill only if you bought with it |
| Bank transfer (ACH) | No | Yes | 100 Sweeps Coins minimum; bank account verified first |
| Instant Bank Transfer | No | Yes | Participating banks only |
| Gift cards (Prizeout) | No | Yes | Open to everyone; minimum disputed (see below) |
There are no crypto prizes on Chumba.
Cash prizes follow how you paid: card and online-banking buyers are paid to a bank account, and Skrill buyers to Skrill. To switch, you need to make purchases with the new method first. If you've never bought anything, gift cards are always open to you. The T&Cs also let you nominate a bank account for cash, but the help centre suggests cash needs a method you've bought with, so confirm with support before relying on it.
Cash versus gift cards
- Cash: 100 Sweeps Coins minimum, paid to your bank account (standard or instant) or to Skrill.
- Gift cards: issued through Prizeout and sent to your registered email. Merchants change over time and have included Amazon, Airbnb and Walmart. The help centre puts the minimum at 10 Sweeps Coins; the Sweeps Rules set 100 for every prize, and the rules govern.
- If Chumba asks you for a valid email address and doesn't get one within 60 days, it doesn't have to issue the gift card.
Redemption limits and speed
- Minimum: 100 Sweeps Coins for cash; gift cards 10 per the help centre, 100 per the rules
- Frequency: one request every 24 hours, and one pending gift-card request at a time
- Florida: a prize from a single spin or play is capped at $5,000
- Daily cap: Chumba can limit redemptions to $10,000 a day
- Large prizes: over $10,000 can be paid in instalments and take up to seven extra days
Chumba says it approves requests within one to two business days. After approval, it says bank transfers take five to ten business days to arrive, Instant Bank Transfer usually lands within 24 hours, and gift cards take up to 48 hours. In practice, gift cards usually arrive within about an hour, Skrill usually takes one to two days, and standard bank transfers commonly take up to about a week. Your first request takes longer while verification finishes.
Where redemptions get stuck
Most hold-ups are procedural and easy to avoid: verification that isn't finished, a bank account that hasn't been confirmed, a balance below the minimum, or trying to take cash to a method you didn't buy with. You can cancel a pending redemption and play the coins again, but Chumba's own responsible-play policy advises against it.
Chumba Casino Games & Playing Experience
Chumba's library is compact: about 200 games, where the biggest rivals run past 1,000. What it offers instead is a strong set of in-house exclusives, jackpot slots and formats most sweeps sites don't carry. Every game can be played with Gold Coins for fun or with Sweeps Coins for prizes.
Slots
Slots make up most of the lobby, across 3-reel, 5-reel, jackpot, 10K Ways, Fireshot and Hold and Spin games. Studios include:
- Playtech
- Red Tiger
- Relax Gaming
- Slotmill
- ReelPlay
- Pear Fiction
- 1x2 Gaming
- Big Wave Gaming
The standout is the in-house range. Chumba's own studio, Golden Feather Studios, makes the Chumba Exclusives, which Chumba says can't be found anywhere else. The Fireshot jackpot slots are a big part of the draw.
Table games, live casino and more
- Table games: a handful of digital blackjack, roulette and video poker games
- Social Live Casino: live presenters running blackjack, roulette, baccarat, game shows and live slots. Chumba's public pages don't say whether every live table takes Sweeps Coins, so check a table's coin mode before you sit down.
- Bingo rooms, scratchcards, instant win games and solitaire
Jackpots
Daily Jackpots run separate Gold Coin and Sweeps Coin pools, and each must drop every day. Only the Sweeps Coin pools carry prize value. The progressive jackpot slots sit alongside them.
Game access and minimum play
Each game shows the Sweeps Coins it needs next to it. No maximum stake is published. Any Sweeps Coin game counts toward the playthrough, with no weighting. Some games aren't available in every state, and Chumba can change win rates and odds at any time.
Game information and fairness
Chumba says no game's return to player (RTP) goes below 92%, but its public pages don't list the RTP for each game. Each game's pay table shows its rules once it's open. Chumba's random number generators are certified by iTechLabs and Gaming Associates.
Everyday experience
The lobby is simple, fast and games-first, without banner clutter. Finding a specific game takes some scrolling: there's no search bar, no provider filter and no page per game showing RTP or volatility, so browsing happens by category. The look is simpler than on newer sites. The mobile browser version runs smoothly and closely follows desktop.
Purchase & Redemption Methods
Eligible States
Chumba says it accepts players in 35 states (counting DC). State law is a separate column: it's our tracker's reading of each state, and the two don't always agree.
Chumba lists Utah, where our tracker records a ban in force. We show both. Check the site's own rules before you buy coins.
Chumba sets its own minimum age of 21. Under each state we also show that state's minimum age for online gambling in general. It isn't a sweepstakes-specific rule, and the two ages can differ. More detail: gambling age by state. This is general information, not legal advice.

Chumba Casino Operator, Sweepstakes Rules & Security
Chumba Casino is run by two VGW companies, both registered at the same address in Birkirkara, Malta:
- VGW Games Limited (company C76814) sponsors the sweepstakes and awards the prizes.
- VGW Malta Limited (company C74706) owns and operates the site and handles payments.
VGW Games holds a Malta Gaming Authority licence (MGA/B2C/188/2010) for its promotional games. That's a Maltese licence, not a US gambling licence.
The Sweeps Rules are a separate document from the Terms & Conditions. The rules, currently version 26.1, dated 16 September 2026, govern Sweeps Coin play, entry routes and prizes. The T&Cs, version 27.1 of the same date, cover your account and Gold Coin play, and say plainly that Gold Coins can't be redeemed for prizes.
Security basics:
- ID and selfie checks through Jumio before any prize is paid
- Bank accounts verified before cash is sent
- Random number generators certified by iTechLabs and Gaming Associates
Legal actions and state exits
Chumba is operating normally. Its regulatory history:
- Florida: on 19 August 2026, Florida's Attorney General sued several VGW companies, including VGW Games Limited and VGW Malta, along with other defendants, in Hillsborough County Circuit Court. The complaint alleges illegal gambling and deceptive trade practices, and asks the court to stop the operation and order restitution and penalties. These are allegations, not findings. Florida is still an eligible state under the current rules.
- Kentucky: on 17 June 2026, Kentucky's Attorney General sued VGW in Franklin Circuit Court, with gambling, consumer-protection and loss-recovery claims. These are also allegations. Kentucky is still eligible.
- New York: VGW agreed an $8 million settlement with New York's Attorney General, effective 31 August 2026, without admitting or denying wrongdoing. Chumba stopped Sweeps Coin play in New York on 2 June 2025. New York players who weren't notified at the time have one year from 31 August 2026 to ask to redeem the Sweeps Coins that were in their account that day.
- Maryland: the state's gaming regulator sent cease-and-desist letters in March 2025 and November 2025. Maryland is still eligible.
- Oklahoma: a state ban on dual-currency sweepstakes takes effect on 1 November 2026. Oklahoma is eligible under the current rules until then.
- State exits: the excluded list has grown over time. Idaho, Michigan, Montana and Washington were excluded by March 2024, Connecticut by September 2024, Delaware and Nevada by April 2025, and New York in June 2025. Louisiana, Mississippi and New Jersey followed by July 2025, Tennessee and West Virginia by November 2025, California by March 2026, and Indiana and Maine by July 2026.
Operator availability and state law are separate questions. The state block on this page shows both for your state.
Chumba Casino Customer Support
- Contact form: "Submit a request" in the help centre
- Email: support@chumbacasino.com
- Live chat: the help centre mentions a live chat feature, but doesn't say when it's staffed or whether it's a person or a bot
- Phone: none
- Complaints: Chumba aims to respond within 10 calendar days, or up to 20. Unresolved complaints can go to eCOGRA, an independent dispute service.
Chumba says support is available 24/7. Contact-form and email replies usually arrive within hours, often the same day, and the answers tend to be polite and competent. For anything time-sensitive, the form and email are the dependable routes. The help centre is large, but some articles are out of date or contradict the rules, as with the gift-card minimum, so check the Sweeps Rules on anything involving prizes.
Responsible Play
Chumba's tools sit in its Responsible Social Gameplay policy and help centre:
- Purchase limit: set it yourself over 1, 7 or 30 days.
- Play Amount limit: caps the Sweeps Coins you play per day, week or month. Set through support.
- Daily Time Limit: from 30 minutes to 10 hours a day. Set through support.
- Activity reminder: every 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes.
- Take a Break: 1, 3, 7, 14 or 30 days.
- Self-exclusion: 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, 5 years or indefinite. An indefinite exclusion can be reversed after six months, followed by a seven-day cooling-off period.
- Permanent account closure.
Raising or removing a limit takes 72 hours to come into effect. While self-excluded you can't redeem, and Sweeps Coins expire after 60 days without a login, so redeem any balance first. Chumba's own policy gives the same advice.
Chumba Casino Mobile App & Browser Experience
Sweepstakes play on Chumba is browser-only. The full site runs in a mobile browser with no download; iPhones need iOS 13.4 or later in Safari. Everything that involves Sweeps Coins happens there: the welcome coins, play for prizes, purchases, ID checks and redemptions. The mobile site runs smoothly and closely follows desktop.
VGW publishes two apps on the App Store and Google Play, Chumba Lite and Chumba Casino Mini. Both are Gold Coins only: no Sweeps Coins, no prizes, and VGW says there's no ability to purchase or redeem prizes in them. They suit casual Gold Coin play; use the browser site for anything involving prizes.
Chumba Casino Review Verdict — Should You Sign Up?
Chumba is a simple, well-known sweeps site with an unusually good first purchase. The default playthrough is 1x, the $10 offer adds 30 Sweeps Coins at three times the rate of regular packages, and the exclusive slots, jackpots and bingo rooms give it a character most rivals lack. Gift cards are open to every player, and Chumba doesn't charge redemption fees today.
The $10 offer is the practical way in, and the True Value section in Part 1 shows why. Important T&C covers the playthrough and redemption rules worth knowing before you buy.
A good pick if you: play casually in an eligible state, want a low-cost start through the $10 offer and enjoy exclusive slots, jackpots and bingo.
Consider another site if: you want a large, searchable library, an app that supports prize play, dependable live chat or a VIP programme.
What would make Chumba better: fix the gift-card minimum conflict between the help centre and the rules, publish the daily bonus amount, commit to the 1x playthrough instead of reserving up to 20x, and say when live chat is staffed and by whom.

“A simple, well-known sweeps site with a 1x playthrough, gift cards open to every player and an unusually good $10 first purchase. Worth knowing: cash redemptions start at 100 Sweeps Coins, and prize play runs in the browser rather than the apps.”
